Have had good luck with this economy unit as an basic depth finder. But after firing it up this year, I noticed a problem. The depth reading still works for the most part, but I get no bottom definition. Instead of solid color pattern for the bottom contour, it's just a thin haze of dots. Makes it impossible to read contour or bottom content/transition areas, etc.
Unit is set on auto, however I tried playing with the sensitivity to try and improve it with no results. Also have inspected the transducer--it's clean and sitting level. I take good care of it and store it inside in the winter and when not on the water. Transducer remains attached to the boat, of course. I'm guessing that's where the problem is. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and/or knows of a solution?
Since it's a cheap unit, not sure if it's even worth replacing the transducer (if that's the issue) or just replacing all-together.

We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha
motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor, wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will
want for this boat? Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke
Mariner motor) I will appreciate any help with these questions.
I went ahead and watched some of the MLF coverage. Wheeler didn’t make the cut but the bigger story was the Poche/Avera fallout.
Kinda funny listening to both sides of the story and putting together the scenario, reading between the lines.
