Lowrance HDS7 Gen II

Question

My new graph is mounted and in use. A problem that i have that is frustrating is the transducer is only showing a partial half moon shape , not the typical full half moon that i'm accustomed to seeing both on the box that it comes in and my old Lowrance from the 80's. I don't know if i'm looking at a fish or blob of seawood, as an example. I have it currently set to 200 khz, but have also tried 83 with no noticeable difference (not sure if this even relates) . I've made adjustments to the ping , amongst other things. I've only made an adjustment to the transducer in one direction so far with no difference. Do the transducers normally have to sit slightly up in the back or slightly down in the back or perfectly level? Any help or suggestions you can offer me would be appreciated.

I had the same issues with my HDS8 last year. I called Lowrance and talked to a very helpful southern gentleman that told me how to fix the problem. If I remember, he emailed me a troubleshooting page and it worked. I had to turn up the ping speed and a few other things. I can't remember everything but I suggest calling.

Partial arches are caused by the transducer being tilted, either forward or backward. If you are using a transom-mounted transducer, the angle of the transducer may prevent a fish arch from displaying properly. It can happen with a bowmount electric motor too, if the shaft is not more or less vertical when its deployed.

This picture explains the adjustments you need to make depending on which half of the arch you are seeing.

I hope this helps...

My transducer was balls level all the way around. I actually played with it becasue I thought weight shifting in the boat would impact performance. The Lowrance rep told me they aren't that fussy. Call Lowrance for help.
