80# or 100# for me, nothing to do with cast offs never had that problem even when using 65#. Mainly use the 80# on my levelwind reels and 100# on my non-levelwind reel.

In my experience anything lighter then 80# had some issues with digging in to the spool.

The 100# on the non-levelwind reels is to help the line lay more evenly on the spool and not build up on one side.

Depends on the baits you are throwing... I have my curado set up with 65 but I only use it for small to midsized bucktails... I have my saltist spooled up with 100 because I use it for bulldawgs and heavy plastics... I have my calcuta spooled up with 80 for topwater plugs and cowgirls.

If you don't want to worry about it, just use 100 and call it good.
