Shore fishing with kids in Lake Pepin

I'll have 4 little ones this weekend and I'd love to get them into some fish. They'd be happy catching drum, bass and carp.

Anyone know if the fishing is good from the pier in Lake City?

We'll be staying in Frontenac so I am considering hitting the river there but the kids won't be up for hiking in a mile.

I would stick to the fishing area on the marina side (has railings). It will be safer for the kids there rather than the long straight one that goes out. They have 3 areas to choose from. All should produce fish. Sunnies, crappies, bass and even walleye can be caught with a worm under a bobber. Just have to figure out the depth. I usually start 4-5 feet down. Been bringing my kids (now 10 and 7)there for a few years when I don't have the boat and they have a good time. Bring chairs for them to sit on.
