Water Exchanges

Hookey

Recommended Posts

Water temperature , PH and other factors reduce the likelihood of minnows surviving anyways. Especially during summer months. I am about to say the smell with live bait yuk-yuk unless anyone has a suggestion.

Also note, Frabill makes tablets that condition as well as dissolve and release air bubbles to keep bait alive. They are expensive and the only reason I mention it is the conditioner turns the tap water bright blue.

Keep with me here... So looking at the blue water I am thinking... If the water in my cooler is blue, well then maybe it did not come out of the lake. Very obvious solution !

So DNR if the bait shops stain our water would we still have to exchange water ?

Anyone know how to push that idea to law ?

As of right now, YES well water or blue water for that matter would still have to be dumped out. The way the law reads is pretty much any water that goes out in the boat for bait needs to be dumped out and exchanged with fresh water that you had left in the back end of your pickup in a cooler with ice.

I have tried those stupid Frabill tablets and they didn't work worth a carp. I didn't see any difference in minnow survival rate from them with an aerator to a cooler with just an aerator. Just my 2c.
