Gulp v. Preserved Minnows

I'm heading to Canada next week. We usually troll for walleyes. I want to jig for them instead. I'm thinking about preserving minnows with salt or Borax. I've also thought about just using gulp. I'm curious regarding which type of bait is better. Obviously gulp is a lot easier to deal with.

We go up a couple of times a year to NW Angle and do well on preserved

minnows and gulp but the best bite has always been on crawlers and

all we do is Jig for the eyes. All we bring now is gulp and crawlers
