Yamaha 115, 4 stroke

My son bought a Alu craft 17.5 with a yamaha 115 4 stroke. When ideling along it is very quiet, speed up to about 7-10 mph it sounds like the lower unit has no lube in it, there is plenty of gear oil in the lower unit. He called the dealer and was told it was exaust noise and to not worry about it. Is there anyone else with a 117 Y that has noticed this? Is this a common thing with this motor?

Check and make sure the thrust washer on the prop shaft is in the correct place or maybe it accidently didnt get put on? I forgot mine once and it was ok at idle but made a terrible sound when I gave it throttle.

I had one in 2001 and it was a very quite motor never had any issues and was always able to have a normal conversation at any throttle

I have 02 Model on my boat, no loud sound at idel or at any speed.
