Trolling motor Transducer advice (install question)

Recommended Posts

Any walleye anglers mount a humminbird transducer on the Minnkota V-2 (front of boat)?

The transducer mounts easily to the base of trolling motor near propeller using the humminbird provided metal fastening strap. Then, you're supposed to run the cord up the shaft of the T.M. while fastening it down every foot or so with plastic ties. However the problem of course is if I were to do this, the cord would not fit through the shaft guide hole when pulling it out of the water! It's too tight of a fit.

So I am looking for the next best manner in which to secure the cord somewhere. If the V-2 shaft is hollow would it make sense to run the cord all the way up the inside starting at the bottom (propeler mount)?

Bone headed as it was to notice this after the fact, I have to believe someone else out there has done this and triumphed.

Thanks everyone, good luck to all on opener.

You are not going to like the answer. No, you cannot run it down the inside of the shaft. Well, you can but you have to take the whole thing apart and then make sure that you make things water tight or you will ruit the motor.

Unfortunatly you will end up with a floppy cord running on the outside of the trolling motor. IMO every trolling motor should have the built in transducer for this reason.

Just put a tie at the bottom by the motor and use a tie at the top where ever your depth stop is.Yah the cord is floppy,But there aren't any choices unless you get a new elec.motor with built in transducer.
