How do you guys who own these inflatables transport your toons back and forth to the lake?

I've been strapping mine to the roof of the Suburban with a couple of ratchet straps but am thinking that it would be much more fuel efficient if I could strap it to the car. Wondering if anybody else does this and what methods they do. There isn't nearly as much space on the car roof and I'm worried about scratches.

It looks like the entire craft can be disassembled but my guess is it would take at least 20 minutes to get it all back together again once you get to the lake or river.

What do you guys do and what works well?
