dafinga
Folks,My buddy and I are headed up to the Lake mid June. I was wondering if you folks could clue me in on some region specific lures/colors that I might not have. We will be targeting smallies and Northerns...Any help would be appreciated
Muskie-searcher
The smallies up there will hit just about anything, with spinners and tipped jigs being the best. Focus on the islands that time of year for your best success. Now northerns are a real treat up there. You will get a lot of small to medium fish while tossing for the smallies, but you also have a chance at a real pig. For the big ones I have always had my best success with the old fashioned Suick. I will target a bay where the water has warmed faster than the rest of the lake and work the mid range depth with the suick. I normally target water 5-12 feet deep. A few of my favorite bays are Mud, Nebraska, Peterson and Slatinsky. There are also a lot of nice walleyes in the lake. It has really made a come back with the slot.
