I just got my 76csx with the upper midwest fishing guide DVD. I have unlocked the map on my computer, I'm just not sure where to go from here, and what the best way is to put the map on my device is.

Thanks

I just bought one myself but wont get it till mon. in the mail.I plan on just getting the micro chip then basically just plug and go.I believe you would have to download it in a micro chip then put the chip in the gps.

The 76CSx connects to the computer by way of a USB cable or you can put you micro sd card in the adapter and into a card writer/reader. I have no experience with the upper midwest fishing guide DVD. All of the Garmin mapping products that I have used are uploaded by way of either MapSource or the new Base Camp (which likely comes on the DVD or is a free download if not) so I would assume that this would be the same. There is also third party software out there that work, with the one I am familiar with being Mapwel MapUpload (free download). MapUpload will load any compatible .img file to pretty much any Garmin. The beauty of MapUpload is that it will load many img files to a Garmin at he same time. Even with MapUpload you still want to use base camp to create the img file.

Mike,

If you have your MicroSD card installed in the 76CSx, I believe it will show up as a drive letter in your computer when you plug in your 76CSx via the USB cable. If it doesn't, you'll need to get that MicroSD card adapted to your computer somehow either via a MicroSD to SD card adapter or a USB Card reader.

Once you get your computer to recognize the card, make sure you have your UMWFG DVD in and open BaseCamp. BaseCamp should recognize your MicroSD card and also see that your DVD is in the DVD Drive.

Ok, 2 things now, make sure the dropdown in the upper left corner is set to your UMWFG and also click on the MicroSD card letter on the left hand column under DEVICES, that basically sets what map you want to install and where to install it.

On the menu bar on top ( File, Edit, View, Tools....... ) Click on UTILITIES and in there you will see INSTALL MAPS. That's where you want to be.

Now you can just select what parts of the map you want on your chip, you can select as many as you want, click and drag to select big parts of the state if that's what you are looking for.

From there just click next and so forth, once it's done transfering the data to the MicroSD Card, you can take it out of the computer and drop it in the 76CSx.

Let us know if you have anymore questions.

Garmin GPS devices did accept Lakemaster products but it has to be a Garmin Lakemaster product, your chip from the H2O will not work in any Garmin device, or even the new Lowrance Endura's for that matter.
