humminbird 596c HD DI screen question

I just installed my new bird 596. The screen feels sticky like there may be a protective plastic over it. Both me and the father and law thought it should feel smoother. We tried to pry a little on the corners with a razor blade to see if there was a clear film over the screen but did not want to do it to hard. I called customer service at hb and she seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. Anyone that bought one lately know if there is a protective film cover over the screen? I see what looks to be maybe a couple little spots on screen that may be air bubbles now that I have had it out a couple times.

I have a brand new 788 right in front of me and it did not come with any protective fill on it's screen.

I just bought the 587ci HD DI 2 weeks ago and there was nothing on the screen.

My 597ci HD DI did not have anything on the screen.
