The easy answer is "Buy a bow license!" For me, it was a no-brainer this year. I've been fortunate to take two beautiful gobblers (22 and a 24 last year with 2" spurs!)in the last three years, and I called in another double-bearded 22 in between for a buddy who got his first turkey.

I took my first deer with a bow this fall, and I'm feeling more confident about hunting turkeys now with a bow. Make no mistake--it was no slam dunk to take any of the turkeys with a shotgun. I worked my butt off all three times to make it happen with lots of scouting and making some key adjustments on the fly as they were all late season birds.

If you've never harvested a turkey and that's your goal, I'd take my chances with Season D and hunt it hard.

If you're looking for a more leisurely approach--I detest the term "easier" when opting for a shotgun while turkey hunting--and you've got access to land where you can hunt for a longer period of time and set up a blind or two, grab your bow and go!

Whatever you decide, make the most of your time out there and let us know how it turns out.

That's my 2c worth!

I have been bowhunting Turks for 4 years and I didn't even think of buying anything but a archery tag. I have also only shot two in the last 4 years also. I just like the challenge and the time being out there.
