I've got the same motor on the back of my Ranger 620. If I'm camping up on Rainy and can't charge my batteries, I can baby it and get up to 4 days if I don't use it to backtroll into any strong winds. (this is when a gas kicker is nice to use in the wind instead.) Otherwise I've backtrolled into waves big enough to easily come over the back of the boat, pushing at or near max throttle full time and have only gotten 4-5 hours of run time. You'll like the motor. Just be sure you have two newly matched batteries and be sure to use 6 gauge wire from the plug to the batteries.

It is very hard to judge battery life on a trolling motor because there are so many variables. How you use it is the first, the amount of wind/current is a huge factor as is the speed you use it at and of course the size of boat you have it on. To add to that, not all batteries are created equall. A set of Diehard Platinums will last a heck of a lot long than a set of budget group 27s.

Just keep that in mind. I don't own one but have been in boats that do and they are a great tool. You will like it.

Thanks for the infromation guys. I don't know anyone that runs a vantage so I had no idea. I'll be pushing a 1700 lund tiller with the vantag. I back troll for a majority of my fishing.

If it can push a 621 in rough water for 4 plus hours I should have no problem on my 1700.

You guys run any of those Cabelas AGM battery's? Looks like cabelas has a sale on the 205 RC, 50 bucks off. Any thoughts or experiences?

I have heard they are good. If you do go with the AGM batteries, make sure you change your charger to work with the AGM charging requirements. I am not sure what is different, but I do know that most onboard chargers have two settings, one for lead/acid and the other for AGM.
