new to MN fishing

I am new to fishing in MN and am looking for some tips and suggestions for fishing from shore. I'm used to bass fishing in TN and was wondering if MN is any different. Also, any tips for northerns from shore would be awesome. Thanks

Tips on fishing from shore: get yourself a set of waders (for early season) or just a pair of shorts once the water warms up and wade the shallows. If you are in the water, it is public. Fish early morning and after dark. For pike, cover lots of area and throw big baits (little baits = little fish). A sucker under a bobber works well too but is pretty boring and you will likely kill the fish. Please protect the big pike you catch and let them go so they can grow! Hope this helps. Also, most resorts rent boats, give that a try for a change of pace.
