Thank God for lots of ice!

After seeing all the posts lately about bad ice and vehicles going through I cant help but be thankful mother nature has granted us up here in Northern,MN with an awesome ice year!

These are pictures from Trout Lake in Coleraine today during the annual Jennie Guyer ice fishing tournament. 500+ vehicles were out on the lake today. Fishing was terrible and a 3lbs 6oz northern took first place! Ice was 20+ inches of crystal clear black ice. Even with ten vehicles parked directly around us the water was an inch below the top of the ice and wasnt giving at all. Despite the wind and the terrible fish bite, was a good day!

Having nearly lost my Jeep this year to an open spring on a lake with an abundance of ice I am also a "No Ice is Safe Ice" advocate. However, that statement comes with a large amount of "duh" factor. Drill holes before driving a lake you are unfamiliar with, drill holes when traveling away from the beaten path, move your vehicle occasionally and many more "duh" factors. I felt safe today!
