Blue jay - shrike encounter

Just saw an interesting display in nature. A number of upset blue jays were quite raucous about halfway down my driveway. Crept close enough to find five jays sitting in the top of a birch tree, completely surrounding a shrike. The shrike wasn't very happy either, bobbing on the branch and buzzing. As typical with bluejays, I couldn't get too close before they split the scene!

I wish I had my camera at the ready about a month ago. I had a shrike patrolling along my street. Not too often I see them around here so this was a rare find. Even more interesting was he "hacked" something up (lunch?) while I was watching him.
