delzz7
I'm going to purchase a ranger. Was looking to get glass windshield. should I get a fixed or flip open? Roof should I go poly or steel? Do you think i would need a rear window? I was told if I had a roof and windshield i would get dusted out going down a gravel road. I don't want doors.I have gotten different opinions from different dealers. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
magnum mike
I think I am running exactly what you are looking for. The movable windsheild tends to vibrate and rattle I'm told. I got the fiberglass cab system with the fixed windsheild and no doors. This configuration is not comfortable for long rides on hot summer days. I have used mine ice fishing on COLD days with no problems. My sales guy told me "You are wearing clothes to be outside anyway. The windsheild makes all the difference and the cab is "heated" by the engine you are sitting on".
aczr2k
You will want a flip open windshield, otherwise way too hot in the summer. If you have a windshield you also need a rear cab portion otherwise the dust will swirl around behind the windshield and choke you out. Steel or poly is up to you, lots of people don't care for the poly cab. Can't go wrong with the rangerware setup, that is what I have, all comes down to how much you want to spend. Biggerfish
I too bought the full cab and thought removing the doors/back-cab would allow air flow.Wrong...I get dusted out on dirt roads. This year am trying something differnt. Completly removing the windshield and cab. Purchased a 2'x 4' x 1/4" pexiglass from the big box store and mounted it to two 1 1/2" alum tubes that run horz. This leaves about 4" at both top and bottom to allow air flow. All a summer shield is for is to keep the rocks/rain from hitting your face. Will let you know how it works.....On another note.....I will never go without a cab in the winter. Getting out of the wind is huge on the lakes and yes the heat from the moter does keep in fairly warm to.
