Winter Mourning Dove

I have a small flock of doves that occasionally use my feeders. Today, to find shelter from the wind and snow they chose a small garden next to my chimney, right below a window. Food has been easy picking until this snow, I expect they may become regulars.

Cool picture! I looked out my window the other day and thought I was seeing things, but there were 4 of them in the neighbor's yard. They looked big all puffed up. I had no idea some stayed up here for the winter, I thought they all hightailed it south once it got cold.

I have 7 that are comeing to the feeder. I use a ground mix that works for all ground feeders.

2,lb White proso millet.

2,lb Red proso millet.

1,lb Safflower.

1,lb Peanut hearts & chips.

1,lb Canary seed.

If the house sparrow starts to take over, drop the white and red millet and add Milo ( sorghum ) house sparrow don't like it very much also you can add Rape seed. At my place the House Sparrow and Starling life span is a short one.
