Minnetonka report(s)

Hi all,

I finally took a night, turned away my bass/walleye fishing friends, and chased some 'skis. Normally this time of year I strictly fish muskies, but the bass fishing on Tonka has been superb as of late. grin.gif Muskies on the other hand have been hot one day and gone the next. Unfortunately last night was one of those "not so hot" nights. Not even a hit or follow. Most of my success lately has been using noisy suface lures on steep points. Awakers, Tally-wackers, and Jackpots to be specific. The object is to place your boat in deep water and cast into shore. One trick to aggrivate these monsters would be to work your bait in, making sure to pause at least once after it passes the weed line. 9 of 10 fish I catch hit as soon as I start moving my bait again. Work each point covering all probable areas and move on to the next. Over the next week or two, I will be doing some trolling near concentrations of baitfish. I'll post another report as I go. Good luck and hold on!! wink.gif

I would have to agree with you on the "hot & cold" days. I have had a few days with multiple fish in the mid 40's and then returned to find no evidence that this lake contains any Muskies at all. It is a nice lake in that the pike and some BIG bass seem to like those Muskie lures! They keep you busy and give you something to do on those days with no Muskies.

I like this lake, and now is when it becomes more fishable!

Se you out there!
