rodbuilder
Hey all, this is my second year chasing 'skis' and am looking for pointers for August fishing. Is now the time a guy should start switching from bucktails to jerkbaits? Or should cranks be in order? I am not looking for anyones "secrets" here, just some sound advice to help me put another one in the boat. I got my second muskie, which is my biggest 2 weeks ago (42"). It was caught exactly 1 year to the day from my first!! I hope this isn't a trend!!! One per year on the second Saturday of July...not real promising! any pointers you could pass along for August would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I will be primarily fishing Plantang and Cass. Guest
give dumbell a try. it is a nice lake to fish. lots of easy to find structure and a good number of ski's. i havn't seen many fish over 40 come out of there but the action is quicker than most lakes i've fished. green and bright green bucktails have proven most effective for me, and time of year hasn't mattered much. rodbuilder
I have heard thats a good numbers lake but I live 2 miles from Cass and 7 from Plantang so I am looking for feedback for these lakes. Might hit dumbell next year.
David Swenson
Time on the water. You are fishing good waters, just keep on fishing them and learning. I know it is simple advice but nothing beats being out there and learning a specific body of water. I would even suggest hiring a muskie guide for a 1/2 day or go out with someone who has a lot of experience fishing the lake. As for baits, bucktails and jerk baits are good in August. Try a big black bucktail with a silver blade on Cass.Good luck!David Swensonhttp://muskieguide.homestead.com/
