Dog Door

How many of you have installed them? I'm strongly considering adding one that would have to be in the wall of our house. I've been reading up on installation. I have no worried about locating the suitable spot and cutting though the drywall inside doesn't seem like it would be a concern but doing so through the exterior steel siding makes me concerned. As in I'm worried I'd goof it up and make it look awful. I've thought of talking to our contractor that built our house 7 years ago or hiring someone from the local lumberyard but does anyone have any DIY advice? Thanks!

P.S. I have two beagles and their scratching at the door to get in and out is driving me nuts!

I'd cut the siding even larger than normal and use a frieze board around the dog door to trim it out. You will be able to get a better seal around the door and use a new piece of j-channel at the end of the frieze board...

Good Luck!

Ken
