This morning on the lake i was drilling a hole (probably the 4th or 5th of the day.) Everything seemed to be running fine as always up until then.. but after the 5th hole the motor idled funny. rpm seemed jump around a bit and the auger shaft would spin slowly with no throttle applied. alternating between a slow spin and a medium spin. when i applied throttle the motor would want to quit. and it did. after letting it sit. and about 70 pulls later.. she fired up and ran perfect the rest of the day. cutting about 20 additional holes. I have drilled hundreds of holes. and until today it has been absolutely flawless! This kind of scared me. being a fairly new auger..

So my question is.. has anyone had this happen on a newer SM auger before? I felt really dumb tugging on that cord for 20 minutes.. i love this auger! and i hope its not a sign of a more serious problem.

I don't think you have a whole lot to worry about since it ran fine after a while. You likely had a foreign particle in the carbeurator. This may require you to take apart the carb and clean if the particle is still inside and causing recurring problems.
