anatomy of a squirrel?

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures but I have a question about a squirrel I shot the other day.

So I shot a few squirrels down by the lanesboro area and while cleaning one of them I noticed a bump on one of them. It was between the scrotum and the anal. As I skinned it, I noticed what resembled a flat pea. Could this be a tumor or a fat gland of some sort? I also notice an artery of some sort and when I squeezed it, some whitish solid came out....looked almost like a "glue stick" type of solid.

I wish I could've taken pictures. But I have never seen this before.

I have never shot squirrels in the winter before, so I think it could just be that he is fat because of the time of the year.

This was a mature squirrel. I would have to say atleast a few to 5 years old.

I just wanted others' opinion first before I decide what to do with this guy. He's all cleaned up. I'd hate to waste meat, but if it's not safe to eat, I'm not going to. Again. Sorry no pictures.

Thanks.
