Vent Hood in the Garage for Frying Fish and Grilling

The wife tires of me fying fish in the kitchen so I'm kicking around the idea of installing an exhaust vent hood in the garage. Anyone tried or have this set up? Would it work with the standard 30-36" variety to keep the oil smell from taking over and would it keep up with a grill (gas and/or charcoal)?

I've been thinking about this for some time now. Family loves grilled food, fish frys, etc. I have a heated garage and hate to open the doors up to let the stink out (along with the heat) so why couldn't I put up an exhaust fan and treat it like a kitchen setup? Throw up the vent, tile a make shift backsplash...good year round! Hoping someone with knowledge on the subject could shed some light and throw out any recommendation.
