Fish house dealers?

OK I’m getting the itch really bad to get a wheeled house so today we went for a ride up to Milaca to scope a few out. We made it to Milaca Unclaimed freight and The Yeti dealer across the road. But I would have sworn there used to be another place up there that had wheeled houses. Am I thinking wrong? If memory serves me right they had white siding but it wasn’t seamless like most. Like they used some sort of trim to cover the seam. Anyone know which house I’m thinking of?

Also where around the cities are there any dealers who have houses on hand? I stopped by Franks (Ultra Shack)on Thursday and he doesn’t build anymore until ordered (bummer). I’m just in the planning stage and I’m kind of anal about researching before I buy. So I’m really just kicking the tires for now and getting ideas and it’s fun to look at all the options.

There was a guy that built houses like your'e describing a few miles north of Milaca on 169. I don't know if he is still building them though.

Wish I could invite you over to see my Performance Engineering house mabr but I still don't have it. It was supposed to be done two months ago and I still have no idea when I will get it.

I'm not very happy about it.

MJ I'd be screaming to beat the band. I would think reputation would mean something to them. I've heard lots on here praise them and I believe they do have a good house, But Id be that squeeky wheel if it were me.

I think I found my own answer looks like its the fish house store. I remember seeing them right on 169 but it looks like they moved. Still in Milaca but off 169.

I am really struggling on what to do. The main reason I picked him was because he would custom build a frame with a 30" deep spear hole I wanted.

I heard alot of positive comments about Tom and his houses. It doesn't appear to be turning out that way for me though.

He has told me he got delayed because he had to build a bunch of auction toppers.

I probably should have been screaming at the top of my lungs but I haven't been. My thought was that I want my house to be built correctly and if i'm a nice guy he will treat me accodingly.

It's looking like i'm wrong.

That issue / excuse better have been addressed with me "prior" to a completion date, and I would be open to about 2-wks maximum delay without negotiating price drop or option adds.

2 Month's is nothing but a joke for a competent builder who on average can produce one in 3-5 weeks. Or don't take the job on and make deadline promises to hold a customer hostage just in order to not lose the sale. Bad business

Tom is a great guy and builds a very nice house. You are also getting a guy that builds houses one at a time the way you want it. I know when he built my house 2 years ago I put money down in april and dident get my house untill december but it was worth the wait. The good thing is we have a month before we can drive out.

i got my Ice castle in Ramsey mn, behind the pawn shop on HWY 10 they still have some from last year in there. Very fair and they would deal and make something happen. But once the ice sets up so do the people buying and then there goes the deals

I put half down for the house. Yes he seems like a good guy but he should not tell you something to sell a house and not do it. I understand there can be delays but two months so far is getting ridiculous.

I ordered a stud house. It's not giving me much time to finish it.

I also bought a house from Tom 3 years ago, I ordered a shell the way I wanted it and he was about a month late getting it to me. So the first year I had it was not done all the way. I am happy with the house and if I bought another one the same way I would have him build that one to. I'd just order it alot sooner. I had some problems with the running lights so I would make sure to plug them into my truck and turn on the lights for a while to make so the fuse doesn't blow. He checks them with a battery. He had a hot wire going to ground. Easy fix. I am happy with the house. Rick

" I ordered a stud house. It's not giving me much time to finish it."

Story keeps getting worse in my eyes and serious late appears to be his way.

A shell unit 2 months out post due ? Cant support anything about that scenerio. Especially with late being a well known practice.

If you go to the ice show in St. Paul on Dec 2,3,and 4th they will have all kinds of them there to look at.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
