I am looking into finally gettign my own portable this season. Does anyone know of any reviews for the New Eskimo fat fish insulated houses? or the quality of the eskimo pop up houses compared to other brands?

The Eskimo hub styles tend to get great reviews. If I were to buy one this year it would be the FatFish 949. Great looking quality house. The insulated version is only slightly more expensive, definitely worth the money.

I picked up the insulated eskimo fatfish 949i a couple weeks back. I've set it up in the garage a couple times and like it...we'll see how it performs out on the ice. Here is my list of pros and cons

Pros:

Very large fishable area

Cheap - as low as $249 (see TB's in Blaine) Best value I've seen for a insulated portable

Comparable quality to other hub houses

Eskimo's ice anchors are the best

Cons:

The bag is terrible - plan on getting a different bag for it immediately

Insulated fabric isn't quite as thick as others (The insulated fabric on my clam summit thermal appears heavier. I wouldn't worry about this too much...anything insulated will be much better than standard canvas)

Could be a couple inches taller

If you are on the fence, I'd go for it if I were you. It's a nice value and you will like it.
