It was mentioned above that your minnows die after adding water, this could be because you have city water which contains chlorine. Try buying some water treatment for fish tanks it helps nuetralize the chemicals in city water. also I always keep my minnows in a unheated garage with no issues. My set up is a large cooler with a bilge pump running inside. Between the heat from the pump and the current in the tank I rarely see ice. you just have to add some kind of current break for minnows it sit behind. My garage is attatched to the house so I'm sure I get a little heat from the house but I always had frozen minnows till I started useing this set up.
