Fish Finder/GPS Targeting Specific Locations

Hopefully this is a simple question, planning on using my new 597 ci hd for gps purposes while ice fishing this winter, hopefully mille acs a couple of times. question is if i hear or read bout fish biting in an area say "reggies reef" or "bernies bank", is it possible to do zoom feature at home on my gps & then mark that particular spot while at home so when i go to lake i immediately have directions or can find particular spot, or do i physically have to be at a particular location once then mark and save location when actually there? thx. just trying to learn & use my new toy effeciently.

You can mark waypoints at home in advance, but you'll likely need to first put the unit into simulator mode to access the charts. That's how the bigger Humminbird graphs work; you either need GPS lock to view and scroll the maps, or you need to run it in simulator mode to view and scroll the maps.
