Blade Baits for ice fishing?

Get'n Jiggy

Recommended Posts

I've caught pike with them, jigging as I would any other jig for pike, bigger pulls to draw in their attention, then smaller pulls and twitching either once in a while or if you mark something. Although a lot of times pike hit so fast the only mark you will see is one flying in from a couple feet below your lure. If I'm on a deeper weedline I will drop it near the bottom, fish it a while, reel up a couple feet and fish for a while, etc until I'm just under the ice then repeat. I would use them when I think they want something a little more aggressive since they give off a good amount of vibration, or have something on a dead stick nearby for them to hit if they don't want the flashier lure.

I use them (Zip Lures) all the time on the WI river ice fishing. I use them like you are suppose to. Rip the bait up(1-2 feet) causing vibration, keep a tight line on the down fall. Most of the time the fish will hit on the downfall.

I use the smallest size blade I can get, I think they are 1/4 ounce up to 1/2 ounce. I don't think color matters a lot, the fish are drawn in by the vibration.

I use them to fish for walleyes, great bait to hole hop with. I have also caught catfish, smallmouths, perch and crappies on them.

As ROF stated, it will also bring fish in to hit a deadstick as well.

Overall the zip lures are a great bait.
