Pop up camper issue-

ishy

Question

For some reason I can only use 1/2 of my 20 # propane tank when heating the camper? I hook up another full one and same issue. Is this a regulator issue that is on the hose going into my camper? As always thank you for your oustanding support on this fantastic forum that has everything anyone could ever need.

I'm more curious about the half-tank comment. How do you know they are half full? Are you weighing them? Are you doing by how much is being used to refill them? Did you have the tanks purged when they were new?

Most tanks only get to 80-85% full anyway since there needs to be room for expansion. As far as not running all the way down, I would be concerned about the regulator. Maybe there is something in there that is restricting flow. I'm no expert, just thinking out loud.

You could try hooking up another propane-using appliance to the tank to see if you can use it up. I know I can run mine completely empty on my camper and I have an auto-switchover for my dual tanks and it will let the one tank run all the way down before switching.

I am able to run them empty at home using our peopane fireplace in the porch. I will need to take a closer look and see if there is something in the regulator. i will be back up to the lake this evening. i will report back Sunday. Thanks for the advice.
