DHost21
Im pretty new to the waterfowl game so this may sound dumb I really dont know. We, my brother and I have been hunting out west metro area delano, to montrose. Ever since the local birds started leaving its been really slow. I am pretty sure we arent on the flyway much and are just seeing a few at a time and really high. Is it worth making a trip out towards wilmar area or do we need to go even farther west? Also do bigger sloughs or lakes work better now rather than the smaller spots? Thanks
carpshooterdeluxe
It just takes some scouting. There are plenty of birds all across the state right now. There can be fantastic hunting in western MN, but you have to be where the birds are, just like any other area. The days of going out and plopping 12 decoys in the same slough every weekend in MN are long gone. To be successful, you need to stay on the birds. jumboperch
well said carp. I live and hunt in the willmar area. There are birds around but you need to put on a lot of miles to stay on them. Do some scouting in your area and see what you can find.
