My Stanley garage door opener bit the dust after 10 years. Every time I push a button the door just tries to close (it's already closed). From what I understand 8 - 10 years is about the life span of an opener, so rather than try to fix it I'm in the market for a new one. It's a 16 x 8 door, so I'm thinking a 1/2 hp will work (the Stanley was chain drive, so I'll probably go that route again, but I know the screw and belt drives are quieter). Any recommendations, or anything to stay away from? Thanks!
