Scudrunner
Hello, I am a first time poster so if this has been covered please bare with me. I purchased a John Deere 825i in July and so far it is a great machine. One thing I have noticed however, is a lot of gear noise coming from the front diff. It does not change much when I put in 2 or 4 wheel.I called the dealer (Meis in Watkins, MN) and they said it was normal due to the type of gears used. They said to bring it in if it get worse and they do some "shimming". Has anyone else noticed this condition
landscaper
I also have a 2011 825i gator and I guess i really havent "heard" anything but then again havent really been listening. I will next time I take it out.
perchking
It is a known issue with some of the 825's. I have one also and I can also hear it, not worried about it at this point because it is still covered under warranty. But there are forums/blogs on the net that explain exactly what the issue is. When you bring it in for service most will just change out the bearing on the drive shaft going into the front Diff and that has 100% corrected the issue. My plan is to bring mine in when I get time to swap that bearing out on John Deere's dime.Congrats on your new Deere.
Scudrunner
Thanks for the feedback. Your information is not quite what my dealer told me so it is good to know to get to the real problem while on warranty. I will post progress as I learn more. Are there any aftermarket sources for accessories that you have come accross since this is fairly new introduction?Crysteel in Fridley quoted me $3,600 plus $140 install on a hydraulic BOSS V Plow which is pretty steep but still less by close to $1,000 quoted from John Deere dealer. I am a little concerned how hard the weight of this plow would be on the Gator. Thanks again for the feedback
