IA4PATS
My wife is trying to pick out day hikes for our trip next summer. Do you, or anybody else for that matter, have any suggestions?
toughguy
You could try and call or contact the local information center in downtown Banff. I would recommend stopping there immediately when you get into town. They have park staff on hand with maps and suggestions on where to go. You tell them about how far you want to go, ho much time you want to spend, and what kind of terrain you'd like to travel and they'll highlight routes for you. We didn't hike very far because my wife broke her leg this past spring. I think 3-4 mi. was about the furthest we went on a hike. The route to the tea houses around Lake Louise is a very popular. We liked our short hikes to Takakakaw Falls, around Moraine Lake, Johnston Canyon, Emerald Lake and Marble Canyon. I would have liked to hike more in the Peyto Lake area. Do a search on "best 9 1/2 hiking trails in Lake Louise". There are some good suggestions there.
