Slime Mold?

I have a mold or fungus in small spots in the back yard. After Googling it, it looks like Slime Mold. From what I have read, it isn't harmful to the grass and usually disappears on it's own after a couple weeks but usually will return year after year. This is the first time that I have seen this in the 13 years we have been in the house. I haven't been able to find any recommendations to get rid of it. Most web sites say to rake, dethatch, mow, etc.

Any recommendations? Will a fungicide get rid of it permanently?

Here are some pics:

Looks like fungicides are not recomended to treat Slime Molds. They recomend raking it out or mowing as you said or spraying it with a garden hose durring dry weather.

Maybe if it is only a spot ar a few spots in your yard, you could try cutting the sod out, remove some of the soil and replace wit a sandy soil and seed to help drainage?
