Portable Air Conditioner

Has anyone ever tried one in a fish house? Would it be better to just cut a hole in the roof and put a roof top unit on?

I have used one and it worked great in my 8 by 16 it got super cold in inside. I only camp a total of 5 to 10 days a year so works great for the few days I go could not see myself cutting a hole in roof of house.

As long as you dont mind eating up a little floor space it should work great. Even with the smallest one you should be able to hang meat in that baby!

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I know you have to run a tube to the outside. I figured I could just buy an extra catch cover and drill one out, instead of trying to go through the window.

I tryed venting through one of my holes with a 5 gal bucket lid worked great butt it built up to much heat under the house I always lower my house on blocks so its pretty close to the ground if you leave it up it would be ok.I vented out window and worked great.

hotspot, a few years back I talked to a guy at wefest who had a fish house with am ac unit vented out the catch cover. He was a hvac guy so he had the metal formed around te ac unit and then down the hole and a 90 going out the side of the house. Worked like a charm and it was cold in there. The house was a 8x22 ice castle and the ac was a cheap one from walmart. I use the same small size ac in my fish house now during bear season and summer camping. the down side is I have to tape card board to the open spots and its no longer 100% secured.

pretty sure if you need ac, its time to get the house off the lake! i thought the purpose of having a house was to keep the cold out...oh well, i guess opening the door is too much work just giving ya a hard time bud

I use my 8X16 Ice Cabin as a camper for the summer at a campsite we have near Sturgeon Lake. With the heat this summer I knew we needed something. The rooftop units while nice are pretty spendy. I bought a 13K potable unit from Sam's Club, vented it one of the catch covers and man-o-man that shack was like a meat locker! A bonus of the portable unit is that I brouhgt it home and we used it to cool one of our upstairs bedrooms that never really cooled down enough with the central AC.
