The best Walleye reel....

Recommended Posts

If you don't mind spending the money, the Shimano Stradic is a very nice reel. I run 12 pound, 8 diameter fusion off this reel, paired with a loomis 7 footer. Hands down, best combo I have ever fished with for walleyes.

I'm a former Gander Mountain employee, and there isn't a incentive to push pfluger. They want us to push the guide series reels. We don't because they're **** , except the best crapppie reel I've ever bought is the Guide Series 700. 7 BB, smooth, and $30.

I always would start out reccomending the Shimano's The Sedona's and Sahara's are workhoarses. Very dependable, fairly smooth, and reasonably priced. One's above those are excellent one's.

The pflugers are a good reel, and I would recommend the $100 Trion baitcaster over the $140 Shimano Bantam Curado. I have used this reel and it really impressed me.

Diawa's have had some reliability issues; have had a few defectives returned.

Hope this helps!

Shimano and Daiwa are both really good...I have some of each. But my new favorite is my new Mitchell 300X Gold. I fished with a guide on Gull Lake that used these reels. I loved the look & feel, and the extremely smooth action! And there was nothing at all wrong with the sound of the drag when there was something tugging on the line!

That reel rocks!

I mentioned above that I was purchasing a Pfluger spinning reel. I bought the Pfluger trion and last week I got a good chance to use it. I am so happy with that reel that I will be looking to purchase more in the future. Don't get me wrong I love the Shimano products but this reel is sweet for only $40.
