Trolling Motor

Recommended Posts

I have a 55 lb. thrust Minnkota with co-pilot. Was fishing yesterday and all the sudden she just quit. Checked the battery and the wires were smoking hot and I blew a fuse. Put a new fuse in today and the trolling motor did nothing and blew the fuse immediatley. So I'm thinking maybe a short in the Trolling motor itself causing it? Anyone have any input?

If you have access to an Ohmmeter you can do a check to ground, it sounds like you have a short somewhere. The easy way to tell if it is the motor is to disconnect the motor adn replace the fuse if it blows right away it is in the wiring if it does not it is probably in the motor.
