need skeg work on 40hp

can anyone help I need a skeg repaired or replaced on 40 hp 1997 mercury outboard.

the boat means a lot to the wife was father who passed away. we live near

As long as it has not compromised the lower unit case and is leaking gear lube as well as broken, you can get a skeg repair kit for them. If the lower case is leaking then I would find a used lower case at the marine salvage yard in Minneapolis.

If it is not leaking lube or water into the lube, the skeg repair kits are an easy add on and they look good too.
