Working Spinner Rigs

I am having trouble working spinner rigs with leeches. I was told to let out a lot of line when I feel a bite and then set the hook. I still haven't caught a walleye yet this way and only one northern. Is this how I should be working these rigs? Or are there different methods? Any help would be great. Thanks

Spinner rigs create a reaction bite. You should be trolling these rigs above the bottom. The fish either slam it or they let it go. You will know when you get a fish on a spinner rig. If your using a lindy rig system with your rig and drifting or slow trolling you can fish them just like a lindy rig that has a NightCralwer on it just don't let as much line when you feel the bite because the fish don't "tap" as much with a leech they just hit it

We basically are using lindy rigs. Free roaming sinker, a 2-5' snell, a spinner, beads and a leech. I have only had a bass slam this presentation. The pike I have caught, I fed line too. What would be tapping my line if not walleye? I would think pike would slam it?

Try just letting your rod tip fall back with the bite, then set the hook. This allows a little time to feel the fish with out the fish feeling you.
