buddy heater mods

If I understand this correctly, you don't have to have a filter on the buddy heater if you use the regulated hose? Does the regulated hose use the same pressure as the buddy regulater? Guess what i am after is my regulator is plugged and thought if i hook the regulated hose directly to the pipe and not use the regulator on the buddy. Any ideas?

problem you will get is that you will get the sediment from the tank in your heater and now your heater will be plugged like your regulator.you need the filter or the quick connect hose to avoid the issues.

If the regulator on your unit is plugged it is very likely the stone inside the pin filter that the tank fits over and inserts into the 1 lb tank as you thread the tank into the regulator.

This pin fitting is removable with a deep well metric socket and may be cleanable depending on what plugged it up. Remove it and back blow the filter and the line. You can get a new fitting or a whole new regulator if you wish from Mr. Heater.

If your using a Mr. Heater Big Buddy, then the quick connect hose will bypass this and relies on that hose/regulator to control the pressure. With the Portable Buddy 4000 you will need to go into the provided regulator at the point the 1 lb tank threads on and no added regulator on the hose is advised as it will cause additional complications.

The easiest fix, is to fix the regulator on your unit as I see it.

I also recommend you use the Mr. Heater add on pre-filter on the line in the future. They have proven to eliminate these contamination concerns and is well worth the $10.
