Installing or creating a livewell

Lunker

Question

Did a search and was surprised to not find much on this topic from the past. Wondering if anyone has any experience building a livewell or installing a package deal. Any suggestions, pics, etc?

Planning to get a project boat this spring(16 ft aluminum "bare bones" type) and doing some things like installing a deck, livewell, seats, etc. Most of it I can figure out, but don't have a lot of experience with livewells... Thanks!

I at one time checked it out, all the parts and tank.HIGH costs and with all the new drain everything rules, and they are most likly going to get more restrictive. I turned a large cooler into a portable live well, all the parts are the same but I saved big bucks on a cooler in place of a alum.or SS tank.Plus its yet a cooler.same pump in the boat drain plug hole, same just above water line overflow and a aeriator thats removable from the cooler.Used it twice.Carrying it with Ice works better, drop the fish on ice.

Yea, I thought of that as well. If I do something like a cooler, I would still plan to build a compartment into the deck that it would fit into so I would have it out of the way. Don't want a big cooler taking up space in the boat. Did you rig it up just with an aerator or a water intake/output?
