Tecumseh vs. Solo

This is a marcum vs vexilar type of debate. I will never own another jiffy just because I have had nothing but problems with them. Strikemaster makes a good product and stands behind it. When it comes to number of posts I found it hard to find a big difference. Page two has a post on auger starting issues. Guess what several people have jiffy's that are hard starting. IMO Jiffy = hard starting, loud

I just got my Solo powerhead today, the only reason why I went back to strikemaster was beacuse I already had the auger and it was cheaper to just get a new powerhead than to replace the whole unit. My Lazer Mag Express with the Tecumseh engine was nothing but garbage and I never got the so called best service from Strikemaster. What did my engine is was the nut from the gas tank vibrated loose and got sucked into the engine from the carb. I was on a fishing trip of course when it happened. I used another guy's solo and was impressed with it. I still don't have anything good to say about the service I got. The think was only 3.5 years old and had 3 recoil issues, all paid out of my own pocket for too.

My buddy has the older SM with a Techumech engine and it was great. This year I bought a SM Lazer Pro with the Solo. I think the difference is noticable at the bottom of the hole. The Solo goes through more cleanly.

Good tip with the extra priming... I will have to try that.
