Anyone have or have used this reel?

The Guide Series 5500A features all metal housing, machined aluminum spool, deluxe multi-setting star drag, and infinite anti-reverse. The reel's 3 bearing drive and oversize handle with wood barrel style knob allows use even while wearing gloves.

I have never used a baitcasting reel for ice fishing, but when i stumbled on the this little reel at Gander Mountain the other day it got my mind going on it. Check out the above link. Just wondring if anyone has used this or any other reels like this. Thinking about putting it on a walleye rod to try out...Let me know what you all think.

I picked one up this year. First time using it today. The spool release does not like to stay disengaged. The line you have to pull out by hand, understandable when fishing light jigs. Also it will take some time getting used to the real flush to the rod. Great for preventing line twist. I did catch two crappies with it today. Used it as a dead stick with a venom bobber. One more thing the bobber stop does not go through the line guide on the reel. So far I am not sure if I like it or not, couple more outings to get a better feel.

Thanks for the feed back. I was thinking that it would be more of my dead stick. Never thought of the bobber stop being a problem. I am still thinking it would be a cool little reel. Wish the price was a little lower for the quality of reel. You could get a nice rod...reel...or combo for that money.

Same one I have, the drag seems good, Then again have not had to use it.As for reeling in in 35 ft of water reeling in I did not notice, I was focused on bringing the fish in slow. There should never be a hurry to get the fish in, you lose it always the next one. If your thinking reeling in an empty jig 2 or 3 seconds not worth quibbling about.
