MN_Pilot
Last year I converted to a synthetic rope instead of the cable. I purchased an 8' synthetic plow rope and it broke on me last night. I got it fixed for the time being. Do these synthetic ropes only last a year or so for plowing? I was somewhat surprised it only lasted that long before it broke. I use it exclusively for plowing because I have a longer rope for summer use. Anyone else with a similar experience with these ropes? daydreamer
I converted this year as well. Mine hasn't broke yet but I can see where it's starting to fray. I was hoping for better results after having my old cable break numerous times in years past. Unlike you however I bought the 50 ft section... Dave S
Make sure your fairleads are in great shape. Any raised edges will tear up the rope.
MN_Pilot
I bought new fairleads when I went to synthetic just to play it safe. Maybe I should just buy the 50ft rope, and just re-tie it each time a few feet break off after it gets worn.
Meat-Run
I'm on my second year and it's been holding up great just make sure to keep the black sleeve over the rope to protect it more.mr
Leever
I use synthetic rope in the summer. In the winter I cut a piece of tow strap about 6ft or so with the loop still attached. It's a little tricky getting it to attach to the drum but I've been using the same piece for 6 years now. I used to break the cable constantly.
