700r4 Line pressure

Recommended Posts

I recently replaced the 700r4 trans in my pickup. That was an adventure. Anyhoo, I did the standard TV cable adjustment. Now I have a gauge line hooked up to the pressure port on the trans and I want to make sure the line pressure throughout the different gears is where it's supposed to be. (This trans has a warrenty)

The problem I'm running into is I can't find any specs for a STOCK 700r4 from an 89 Chevy 1/2 ton 4wd anywhere. I've found a lot of different specs for high performance transmissions and I'm assuming they arn't the same. Of course, that assumption could be wrong, but I don't know.

Does anyone have, or know where I can get, the line pressure spec for this transmission?

This is about the best I could find Eric!

These readings can be obtained by attaching a 300 psi fluid pressue gauge to the appropriate pressure port on the transmission, and running the engine at 2000 rpm, and are a valuable source of information when troubleshooting transmission problems or as a system check after rebuilding a transmission.
