Anyone else think it is unusual that the state record Lg. and Sm. mouthbass where takin from lakes without those types of bass listed on the dnr homepage.

Something fishy is going on?!?!?!

Well Diggs,
I know for a fact that Tetonka has Largemouth, I've caught them there.
As for the smallie on West Battle, there were smallies there at one time but were fished out. They are no longer in the lake sad to say.

I can see that there would be no largemouth in the tests for Tetonka since bass to not trap well. They usually need to do night electrofishing to get a good assessment of bass in lakes.

Yep, the largest Large Mouth Bass I have seen in my 25 years in MN, I saw on Tetonka. I lost it at the boat smile.giffrown.gif
Strange...Yes, but for the record, I had a fellow tell me (in person) the MN State record LM Basscame actually came from a pit down by Albert Lea and was it was told it came from Tetonka to the D&R.
This guy that told me, said this person was a friend of his, and that they fished this pit together often.
Gossip?
Yep,... but it is out there.
I call it hear-say only though, till the right guy fesses up.

Dave,
I thought it was like a 14 year old kid that caught it, or is that another record.

Stories like that surround almost all of the records. People doubt that the record Bluegill actually came off of Alice, and many people doubt that the state record Pike was actually ever caught at all and if it was, the weight may have been exaggerated in order to win one of the sporting magazine contests that were quite common at the time. (Kind of like the world record muskie that was thrown out because the record holder fessed up many years later after being confronted by a writer for Muskie Hunter Magazine. All his big fish were fabricated to win these contests. Seems that the guilt of the lie finally got to him.)
