Dirty Propane or something else?

Last friday night before the snow came I was out fishing and started up my sunflower. After about 15 min. it turned off and wouldn't stay lit. The only way I could keep the sunflower on is to hold the ignition button down to keep it lit. I would do this, heat up the portable and then fish til i got cold and repeat the process. After about 2 hrs. of repeating this process the sunflower stayed lit for a good 30min before I turned it off to pack up. Is this dirty Propane or something else.

it's likely a bad thermocouple.

I'm 90% sure it's the thermocouple. Check the position of the probe at the mesh of the heater. It needs to be close so it registers that there is a lit flame and to allow the valve to stay open. If nothing else just replace it as they're pretty cheap, and available at most Menards and Home Depots and other hardware stores that sell Mr Heater.

Thanks guys that seems to be the issue. I moved the thermo coupler closer and tightened it so it won't move it lit right away and stayed lit.

Hydes West of Waconia. Very Slow last week, 3 14" pike. Everyone out there said the same thing. Sorry can't help anymore than that. At least you can check that lake one off the list, you just have 9,999 to go.
