Open water pond fishing

I found a small pond that is barely in the metro that was secluded and open to toss the first open water line of the year. Upon my arrival I noticed several 10-11" black crappie and some large carp on the shore that must have suffered a mild winter kill. On the other shoreline there were even more very large crappie on the shore. The bite was slow but I was very impressed by the size of these in a pond that is less then 50 acres. I am going to try again on Sunday at pre-dusk to see if the bite is hotter for the crappies in the evening. I am sure this pond is never fished by anyone as there is no reason to even believe there would be fish in there.
